In March 2025, Reeve Carney returned to London for five weeks of performances with the original Broadway cast, joined by the London ensemble and fates — one of those weeks was the filming of Hadestown: The Musical. He'd been wearing the Carnival Trade Token throughout the entire run. The costume department never asked him to take it off. Orpheus, it seems, needed it. Playbill named it one of 5 hidden Easter eggs in the film.

A really beautiful piece of Hadestown lore; arrived extremely quickly and with no issues! The creator is dedicated to her craft and you can see the quality in the piece. It’s a heavy coin, and comes in a gift box with personal touch. Well worth the money, and a good statement piece, especially if you’re looking for something subtle to catch the eye of fellow Hadestown lovers!

A real conversation starter

I tend to prefer simple designs and simple jewelry and clothing, and the token works perfectly as such. People often admire it and ask me what it represents, or, if they are familiar with Hadestown, it leads to a fun conversation and sharing what we love about the show. For those of us beginning to explore the world of jewelry, it sits just right!

A really gorgeous quality item

My wife presented me with my carnival token charm at a Hadestown: The Musical movie viewing party we were hosting at my home. I had seen Reeve wearing his in photos, in the Hadestown movie, and in person at several of his shows that I had had the good fortune to see in NYC, but I didn't realize what a really beautiful and high quality item this token really is. It is very solid, quite heavy, and is made of silver (with the 925 stamp at the bottom). It also has a really lovely slightly grainy texture and patina that makes it stand out as a bespoke handmade item, not a mass-produced piece of cheap jewelry. Overall just a lovely, high quality item, and a lovely tribute to both a fabulous show and an incredibly talented artist.
